Once upon a time there was a home computer called the Commodore Pet, which was popular but not as popular as its little brother. In recent years, 8-bit-guy had the idea of creating a game for this system using the Pet's ASCII font. The game was called Attack of the Petscii Robots. With the author's permission, Robosoft ported the game to MSX. But this time not using the default font…

So, ladies and gentlemen, after the beautiful Dreams Puzzle of the 2018 edition, we can finally welcome another game that uses the V9990. Game studio Robosoft, which is no stranger to participating in the MSXdev, has taken it up a notch and replaced its usual gaming set-up based on the MSX1 standard with much higher specifications. This time it is still a game developed for MSX1, but with the video extension for the V9990 and OPL4 audio. The game Attack of the Petscii Robots is, as the author defines it, a game of strategy and exploration.

Your goal is to infiltrate the settlements and destroy all the robots. The trick, however, is finding all the right tools and learning how to use them to get the task done. Exploration is truly an undertaking. The manual provides no further clues, so it's up to you to discover the secrets of this entry.

Although the game controls are customizable, the default control settings are: the cursor keys to move in the four directions, the W, S, A, D keys to shoot up, down, left and right, the SPACEBAR to use an object, Z to inspect an object and M to move an object. In elevators, use the LEFT and RIGHT cursor keys to select the level, and use DOWN to exit the elevator. In menus, you must use the cursor keys and the SPACEBAR. Finally, the ESC key allows you to pause or exit a map, TAB for mini-maps and SELECT to activate and deactivate the game's music.
